ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Business has been good at St. Cloud Regional Airport in 2013.
Airport manager Bill Towle says 23,552 passengers boarded or got off flights at the airport in the first ten months of the year.
Those numbers will grow even more as Allegiant Air adds flights from St. Cloud to Orlando beginning December 18th.
Towle says they'll fly twice a week to Orlando--on Wednesdays and Saturdays--for about a month,, then pull back to just Saturday flights for about six weeks, before going back to twice-a-week departures.
Allegiant already flies from St. Cloud to Phoenix-Mesa, but Towle says Orlando will be a different market. He calls it more of a "destination point," and more seasonal than the Phoenix market.
Meanwhile,, Towle continues to talk with airlines about providing daily jet service to Chicago. He says they are down to serious talks with a couple of airlines, and are, "very close" to having a deal in place.
He says the service would use 50-seat regional jets.
