Dome Dreamin' Tonight for Sartell, STMA

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (MSC) - State High School Football Tournament play begins Thursday night as the Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres take on the St. Michael Albertville Knights at St. Cloud State's Husky Stadium. The winners of Section 8 and Section 6 respectively vie for a chance at the semi-final round at Mall of America Field next week.

Catch the live Metro Sports Commission coverage on KNSI, starting with a 6:40 pregame ahead of a 7 pm kick off.

The Sabres enter the game on a tremendous hot streak, with 7 straight wins. Their run through the sectional tournament included a first round victory over Sauk Rapids Rice, a Semi-Final upset win over St. Cloud Apollo and a sectional title game win over Moorhead. Sartell, at 8-3 on the year, found their way into the state tournament a year after coming up a game short in sectional play.

SartellĀ Head Coach Scott Hentges talks with play-by-play voice JW Cox about the game and the season.

For the Knights, their extended hot streak came to start the season. St. Michael Albertville rattled off wins in their first 7 games before stumbling to Rogers in overtime in the season finale. After a bye in round one of Section 6 play, the Knights found their stride, knocking of Buffalo, then sending Rogers packing in a rematch game in the finals. The Knights, at 9-1 this year, also game up a game short of state last year, falling to Elk River in the finals.

STMA Head Coach Jared Essler talks with play-by-play voice JW Cox about the game and the season.

All the action from Husky Stadium starts with Williams Integracare Clinic Pregame at 6:40 on AM 1450, FM 103.3 KNSI, with kick off following at 7. Matt Wood and JW Cox will be on the call.
