ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) – The old adage goes ‘Defense wins championships’, and the St. Cloud Tech Tigers are looking like a throwback team that could prove that old saying true.
For the first time all season the Tigers allowed an opponent to enter their end zone in a 35-7 win over Grand Rapids last week, the only points allowed by the Tigers through two games this season. The defense has been great against the run, only allowing the Thunderhawks to gain four yards on the ground. This comes one week after holding standout Sartell tailback Darek Stachowski to 114 yards on 26 carries. Tigers are allowing 60 yards rushing and 3.5 points per game.
Many wondered how the Tigers were going to survive without last year’s standout Running Back Jacob Peterson, but it looks as if the question has been answered by 11 guys on defense. After all, it does win championships.
