ST. CLOUD, Minn. (MSC) - With the St. Cloud Apollo offense stymied for 3 quarters...a lightning strike that delayed the game well over an hour, put a spark in the Eagle's game. Some might say that spark was always there in senior wide out Noel Teigen, this week's All Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Week.
Teigen scored two touchdowns that were part of a 21 point 4th quarter that gave the Eagles a 21-6 win over the St. Cloud Tech Tigers. The victory made the Eagles the 2013 Central Lakes Conference South Champions.
Score number one in the 4trh for Teigen came on a 25 yard pass from fill in QB Cooper Lynch. The score gave the Eagles a bit of a cushion at 14-7. Then, as if to ensure the victory and the title all on his own, Teigen intercepted a pass and returned it 58 yards for a score to set the final margin.
Over his career Teigen and many of his Apollo teammates endured one of the longest winless stretches ever in Central Minnesota football. But now, for those same resilient Eagles, they have a conference title of their own.
